Hello

After living a nomadic lifestyle in the military we have finally bought our own home. Well we built a new house. The process was long, slow, and frustrating but we have finally moved in and we are unpacked- sort of. We signed papers with our builder in February 2011. We were the first house sold in a new subdivision and were told our move in date would be June. Then July. Then August. We finally moved into the house in October. It was still warm enough to move my cactus and some hardy flowers but it was too late to plant grass in the backyard. So we have had a long, muddy winter.

I am a stay at home Mom of two wonderful boys. Dallas is 8 but seems so much older. Alex is 2 and does everything Dallas never did. Dallas was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks. Alex still gets up several times a night. Dallas loved toys and trains and puzzles. Alex would rather play in the mud or dig a hole.

My Dear Hubby is in the Air Force and thankfully he is home now. We have been through two deployments and countless TDY's. He lives and breathes EOD (Bomb Squad). He truly believes in what he does. Being a military wife is full of ups and downs. I have started my day with a husband by my side and a partner helping me with the boys and gone to bed that night alone. A single parent with a ring on my finger. A wife without a husband by my side. Most of the time we have plenty of notice to make plans. Most of the time. Then there are times when I get a phone call. My husband is on the other end. He has orders. He leaves in a week or tomorrow or (The worst yet) tonight. How can a family function like this? Who would want to?

I am hoping to create a story of our life - To allow others to see us grow. Please feel free to post a comment or two.

Christy

  1. Hello. I found you through Annie's Granny whom I found through gardening in the boroughs of nyc. Glad your hubby is home with you at this time. Enjoy all the garden planning. Some days, I wish I could start over. There are always things you wish you had done differently, but I'll just enjoy your plans and continue on in my space redoing spots from time to time.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. This is the first time I have been able to start a garden from scratch. We have lived in military housing for almost 10 years. Most of the yards were scary - Mostly weeds and dirt. By the time I got the yards looking better we would get orders to move. It was so depressing! When we moved into our new house I dug up a lot of my hardier plants, but it was too late in the year to move everything. I am really looking foward to see how my garden changes over the next year.

    1. Thank you for stopping by! My boys are always 'helping' me. Sometimes all I want is to just do it myself! I look forward to reading about your chaos.
